Westview Playgroup Hosts Successful Councillor Volunteering Day

Westview Playgroup in Swanley recently hosted a successful ‘Councillor Volunteering Day,’ which took place on 9th May 2024.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from local councillors and members of the Town Council’s Estates Team, resulting in significant improvements to the playgroup’s garden.

The group welcomed the help from Councillor Knight, Councillor Barnes, and Councillor Morgan at the event, along with two dedicated members of our Estates Team.

Their commitment and hard work throughout the day transformed the garden into a more vibrant and enjoyable space for the children.

During the event, everyone got ‘stuck in’ with various gardening activities, including planting new flowers, tidying up existing beds, and installing new play equipment.

The collaborative effort not only beautified the garden but also provided a valuable opportunity for community engagement and teamwork.

The newly improved garden space is now a safe and inviting play area, and a sense of community pride has been established which will benefit the children of Westview Playgroup for years to come.

The positive impact of the volunteers’ work is already evident in the joy and excitement of the children as they explore and enjoy their enhanced outdoor environment.

Westview Playgroup Management commented “Thank you so much to you all for helping us! Our garden now looks wonderful, ready for the children to play in the lovely weather. We are very grateful!”

Swanley Town Council’s CEO added “This is a new initiative that we were keen to get held. Councillors are already volunteering in their role, so this day was a natural extension of that but with the added benefit of a tangible instant result thanks to everyone’s hard work.”
