3rd Parkwood Hall have created a new opportunity for young people with Specific Educational Needs (SEN) to become a Scout and experience the brilliant activities they have to offer.
The Scout Leaders have immense knowledge and understanding on how to support these young people in Scouting. One Scout says “We can achieve anything we want to if we try and with the help of our friends and each other”.
Meeting in Swanley on Wednesdays. 3rd Parkwood Hall Scouts have already completed a variety of activities & challenges including, Cooking over camp fires, treasure hunts, walkie talkie hide and seek, mini Olympics and plenty of Scout badges. “I enjoy all the fun things we do at Scout, especially making smores” describes one of the Scouts!
Volunteer Debbie explains how she has “learnt from the young people, never judge someone’s ability, there is always a way to overcome barriers to achieve an end goal.” Not only do these Scouts take on exciting activities they also get the chance to develop Skills for Life. For example, they have recently learnt how to work and communicate as a team.
In the Summer months, 3rd Parkwood Hall Scouts will be continuing to develop their cooking and first aid skills, practicing their campfire cooking and working towards a camp experience.
