Town Council Staff Support Swanley Snow Clearance Efforts

Swanley Town Council’s Estates Team have been working tirelessly to ensure the communities roads and footpaths are safer during Storm Darcy.

With temperatures plummeting and excessive snow showers, the team have shovelled over 5 tons of rock salt, by hand!

With Kent County Council focusing their efforts on keeping road and footpaths accessible for vaccination and testing centres, it was down to Swanley Town Council staff to step up and they did not fail.

Town Clerk and CEO Ryan Hayman said ‘Gritting is normally the duty of Kent County Council, but of course this has been particularly difficult for the County this year, with so many mitigating circumstances because of the pandemic.

It was great to see how our small team can make such a big difference around the town.’
