The Great British Spring Clean

On the 29th May, Swanley Residents along with Swanley Town Councillors took part in the Great British Spring Clean (GBSC) event to help clean up Swanley.

The main areas of focus were Swanley Park, Laburnum Avenue, Farm Avenue, Lynden Way, Rowan Road and the top end of London Road.

The Town Council wish to extend a huge thank you to all those who joined the GBSC and to our regular community of litter heroes who carry out numerous litter picks each week.

Town Clerk and CEO Ryan Hayman said “Once again the community has come out in force for the Great British Spring Clean.

With litter picking there are the obvious benefits for the environment, but it is also good for our mental and physical health”.

Another stirring effort is that of four year old resident Grayson, who wanted to get involved and organised a litter pick, with the help of his Dad.

He was inspired to take action when he witnessed rubbish being left in the town’s parks.

John (Grayson’s father) said “We walked the local area and cleaned up, picking up a total of 25 bags of rubbish along with some other larger items! I’m really proud of Grayson and I thought I would share the pictures, which I hope will inspire other local litter heroes!
