Following concerns raised by local residents about the fish in the lake at Swanley Park the town council called in Mid Kent Fisheries to look into the matter.
In addition the lake has developed a leak which needs to be taken care of and which will be very difficult to identify.
In order to do this the fish must be removed and the lake drained and a license applied for from the Environment Agency.
Before the EA will issue a license, the Town Council must carry out a health check on the fish which will determine where they are removed to (if they are diseased or not).
Once the fish are removed the lake will be repaired using a clay liner and restored to its former glory.
It is hoped that some of this work will be completed by the end of January or early February and the lake will be usable for the summer.
