I am writing to inform you about roadworks taking place on the M26. The work is part of Operation Brock which is the Kent-wide plan to manage Europe-bound lorries if there is disruption at the ports.
Work has already been undertaken to prepare the ground on and around the M26. We now need to install essential safety equipment which will require two weekend road closures, on one side of the carriageway at a time, at the end of March.
Overnight carriageway and lane closures are required to complete the work safely.
The table below sets out when these closures will take place.
|Start Date||End Date||Time||M26 carriageway closures|
|Sat 23 March||Sun 24 March||10pm to 6am||Coast-bound: Overnight full closure|
|Sun 24 March||Mon 25 March||10:30pm to 5:30am||Coast-bound: Overnight full closure|
|Sat 30 March||Sun 31 March||10pm to 6am||London-bound: Overnight full closure|
|Sun 31 March||Mon 01 April||10:30pm to 5:30am||London-bound: Overnight full closure|
Clearly signed diversion routes will be in place to help you reach your destination.
Speed limits will be in place to ensure you can complete your journey safely.
Further night time closures may be necessary on the M26 as we complete our preparations for Operation Brock.
The work schedule is subject to change in line with operational requirements and we will keep you informed should this be necessary.
There may also be some changes in the event of adverse weather or other unplanned events.
More information about the project and works will be available on our website: www.highwaysengland.co.uk/OperationBrock.
