The Mayor of Swanley Councillor Laurence Ball accompanied by his Deputy and other councillors made sure they were the first to visit the Italian Market in town today.
The continental market is the first of 2 planned over the next few weeks with a French Market coming in March for 3 days.
Cllr Ball said ‘it’s molto bene (very good) I hope we will see people visiting the stalls today’ and went round each of the stalls to see what our Italian visitors had to offer.
The Market was organised by the Civic Manager Toni Roast who is in charge of organising all the town councils events around Swanley.
Toni said ‘it’s a relief that we have good weather today and I hope people will come and support the market’.
The town council is also looking for local people to create a regular Craft Market in the town and is currently advertising for potential sellers.
A number of new initiatives are planned for the town to increase visitor numbers and support local businesses along with supporting existing events.
