Council Christmas Chamber

Councillors and staff at Swanley Town Council really got into the festive spirit at their December meetings by wearing Christmas Jumpers and paying money for the privilege.

Some jumpers were far more entertaining than others with Cllr Horwood raising laughter around the chamber on several occasions with his squeaky reindeer nose and Cllr Southern with his Un-Christmas jumper.

The funds raised of £75.79 will go to Save The Children.

There has been much praise for the town council this year for an improved Christmas switch-on event which included Santa’s Grotto and Elves giving out sweets, along with all new Christmas Lights through the town.

Events Organiser and Civic Manager Mrs Toni Roast said ‘it’s been a very good year for us in many areas and it’s especially important for us at Christmas to show our support for local residents and organisations. We have plans to make next Christmas even bigger with the help of local businesses’.

Anyone wanting to get involved in the events and activities held in Swanley should contact the town council to register themselves or to find out when events are taking place.
