Community Litter Pick

On the 17th May Swanley Town Council staff were joined by Councillors and residents to carry out a litter pick along New Barn Road.

This event was arranged at short notice in order to take advantage of the road closure put in place for the day by Thames Water.

The road closure meant UK Power Networks could also cut back trees to make the road safer to negotiate.

During the litter pick those in attendance delved deep into the hedges on the hunt for historic rubbish, in addition to the items which were on the road.

The event was undertaken with suitable social distancing protocols in place, in line with Government guidelines.

Lilly Hendry-Lewis from Swanley Town Council said “It was great to finally be able to pick up litter along this road and we even managed to dodge the rain.”
