Swanley Town Council held its Christmas Switch On and Fair on Saturday 25th November and hundreds of people came to town to support the event.
Over 250 children visited Santa in his Grotto while Elves walked around the town centre giving out sweets.
There were fair rides and craft stalls along with Mulled Wine, Mince Pies and music throughout the day.
A 200 strong Rock Choir entertained spectators just prior to the switch on with a range of carols and some of the cast from Sevenoaks pantomime turned out to provide a splash of colour.
Event Organiser and Civic Manager Mrs Toni Roast said ‘Its been a brilliant day and the weather couldn’t have been better for us, I would like to thank everyone who came and supported us and encourage them all to come back next year’.
A comment from a resident:
Thank you for letting me and my daughter make lanterns at the light switch on at Swanley on Saturday we had a lovely time making them. It was a lovely idea of something free for the children to do and enjoy”.
The event included all new lights around the Town Centre which were partially funded by the National Lottery and some local businesses in addition to Swanley Town Council.
Swanley has seen a number of new markets during 2017 including, a French Market, Italian Market, Furniture Market and a Craft Market, all designed to increase footfall to the town centres businesses.
Other events inside Town Council facilities at The Alexandra Suite and The Olympic are planned over the Christmas period and everyone is encouraged to take part in the celebrations.
