Mayor of Swanley Councillor Janet Sargeant

Janet is proud to be a local resident having been born and raised in Swanley Village where her family were farm workers.  Janet brought up her two sons in Swanley and has actually lived in all four wards of Swanley parish.

Janet is a Sevenoaks District Councillor for the White Oak Ward and is a regular visitor to the Thursday Club and also to residential homes in the area.  Janet's unusual interests include membership of the Hedgehog Preservation Society and the Rottweilers Welfare Association.  In the past Janet and her husband Brian were both very keen cyclists being members of local clubs and Janet assisted with organising many events in Swanley Banqueting venues for cycle clubs and they cycled many charity cycle rides.  Janet and Brian still manage to get out on their bikes locally, but with a busy year as Mayor probably not as often as in previous years.

Janet has two charities for her year.  The Prostate Cancer Unit at Guys Hospital London, and the Simon Paul Foundation who provide support and advice for people with spinal and other disabilities and are based in the Swanley Library and Information Centre.  Janet says that she will be arranging a number of events throughout the year to increase awareness of the two charities and to donate money raised through her mayoral year.

Deputy Mayor for the year is Councillor Carol Theobald.  Carol has no official Escort.
